Age Concern Fundraiser
In our PSHCE lessons we looked at local charities and their services.
We finally chose one of the charities and wanted to raise money for them.
Our chosen charity was Age Concern, Feltham. It provides different activities for the elderly, including art classes, exercise classes and some other social activities.
We all decided to hold a cake stall, a card stall and a jumble sale. We sold them at a conference called ‘Raising a Muslim Child’ organised by WLSIS (www.wlsis.org) held at Hounslow Mosque.
We were all very happy and enjoyed ourselves but it was a very hot day and we were roasting in the sun!
As the day progressed the weather was getting hotter and hotter while we continued to work as hard as we could to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity. At first not many people were there but then things started to pick up. We got people coming from everywhere, it was so crowded and our cakes were selling very well. Jazakallah khair to Tahira Naeem’s mum who managed to get lots of cakes donated for our stall to sell.
We had a lot of fun selling items for the jumble sale , especially the hand-made Eid Cards as they were original and people were very interested in buying them. Jazakallah khair to Amna Ahmed’s mum who made and donated some lovely small bouquets of flowers for us to sell.
It was hard work but well worth it as we raised, alhumdulillah, more then £300 which has to go to Age Concern Feltham who will inshaAllah put it towards a worthy cause.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed towards this and especially Ustadha Oorooj for buying a lot of items from the jumble sale !
